Somewhere along the way, we were told that "good moms" never need a break. That exhaustion is just part of the job and that asking for time to breathe is selfish. But let me tell you something, mama—that is a lie.
Needing a break does not mean you love your children any less. It does not mean you are weak or that you are incapable. It means you are human. A human who gives and gives, who pours endlessly into others, who holds tiny hands and carries the weight of the world on her back. And you, my dear, deserve to be poured into, too. You deserve a moment to rest, to breathe, to remember that you are a person outside of the responsibilities of motherhood.
So take the break. Step outside for fresh air. Close your eyes for five extra minutes before getting out of bed. Say "yes" when someone offers help, and if they don’t, don’t be afraid to ask for it. A mama who nurtures herself has even more love to give. And you, my love, deserve that same tenderness you so freely give to everyone else.
Until next time...
With love,
Butter Me Mama
